Letter from Parish Leadership regarding Fr. Gallatin’s Absence

Dear Parishioners of St. Peter’s,

We assume you may have questions and mixed emotions regarding Father Gallatin’s announcement at the December 28/29 Masses that he was taking a leave of absence from active ministry while an outside professional firm hired by the Archdiocese reviews his clergy file. For those of you who may have missed his announcement, a statement issued by the Archdiocese is available on our parish website.

In Father Gallatin’s absence, the lay leadership of the parish would like to share the following messages that we hope will be helpful.

  • We want to assure everyone that the parish staff is working as usual and coordinating with other priests to ensure that all Masses, Sacramental needs and programs at St. Peter’s continue as they normally would.
  • We encourage all to pray for our parish, Father Gallatin and those involved in reviewing his file. Our worship aid each weekend will include a prayer for the parish that we will pray together at weekend Masses. Please also hold our community in your personal prayer.
  • We have asked Father Charles Lachowitzer, the former Pastor at our neighbor parish, Saint John Neumann, and the current Vicar General and Moderator of the Curia, to join us next Thursday, January 16 at 7 p.m. in Heritage Center for a Community Meeting to listen to parishioners’ concerns and answer questions regarding the current situation at St. Peter’s.
  • We are committed to sharing information when it becomes available. Updates, as appropriate, will be included in the weekend bulletins and posted on our website and Facebook page.

Please don’t hesitate to contact any of us if you would like to discuss parish business. Our names and numbers are available in the weekend bulletin and on our website.

Together in Christ,

The Parish Pastoral Council, Staff and Trustees of St. Peter’s

PS: All members of the parish are encouraged to attend the community meeting on Thursday, January 16 at 7 p.m. in Heritage Center. For those interested in praying the Rosary together before the community meeting, please meet in the Main Church at 6:40 p.m.
