All volunteers who work with children and/or vulnerable adults must abide by the guidelines set by the Archdiocese of St. Paul and Minneapolis, and the Protection of Children and Youth Initiative set forth by the USCCB.

For the safety of our youth and children, all volunteers who have contact with minors must be in compliance with the Archdiocesan “Essential 3” which includes:

  1. Submit and pass a background check.
  2. Read and sign a Code of Conduct.
  3. Attend “VIRTUS: Protecting God’s Children for Adults” awareness session.

Each of these requirements must be renewed or updated every 3 years.

If you have never volunteered at a Catholic school or parish in the Archdiocese of St. Paul and Minneapolis, you will need to go to www.virtus.org and create an account.  From this account you will be able to submit a background check, read and sign a “Code of Conduct for Adult Volunteers,” and schedule which VIRTUS training session you will attend.  Click here for the “VIRTUS Account Registration Guide” to assist you in this process.

If you have previously, volunteered at St. Peter’s or any other Catholic parish or school in this Archdiocese, DO NOT create a new account at virtus.org.   Please contact Kathy Raible (Safe Environment Coordinator) to see if you are currently in compliance with the “Essential 3.”

If you are under the age of 18 and wish to volunteer with children, please click here for your “Essential 3” Requirements.

If you have questions or would like more information regarding this process, please contact Kathy Raible at 651-905-4311 or at kraible@stpetersmendota.org
